FAQ: The Scholarship

Let's start with the basics

1 - The Nolan & Courtney Turner Memorial Scholarship is an Endowed Scholarship. 

How is this different than a normal scholarship? 

• Our goal is to raise $100,000, and invest this money with our partner, Community Foundation of West Tennessee.
  
  

• The principal amount ($100,000) is not spent — it stays intact.
  
  

• Instead, a portion of the investment earnings is used to fund the scholarships each year.

• This allows the scholarship to continue supporting students forever, or as long as the endowment is maintained.

2 - How much will the scholarship be for the students?

• The scholarship will be for $1,000 per student. Each student will be able to renew this scholarship for up to four years.

3 - Who will be eligible to apply?

• Graduating Carroll County students will be able to apply.

4 - When will the scholarship begin?

• Our fundraising goal is to endow the scholarship before Nolan's graduating class of 2031. If we hit our goal early, we'll start immediately!
